I believe theatre is a great way to teach children important lessons. I have performed hundreds of educational shows at childcare centres and primary schools. Last year I also toured New Zealand and Australia with David Poulton’s Theatre of Puppets and the Queensland Arts Council.
In 2009 as well as continuing my own magic shows, I will also be touring Queensland primary schools with my husband for the Queensland Arts Council. We will be touring our own show “Speak Up!”. It’s a fantastic interactive show that teaches children to speak up about bullying.
I am also incredibly excited to announce that I have received a highly competitive Career Development Grant from Arts Queensland to attend Kidabra! in the United States. Kidabra! is an international association of professional children’s performers. They hold a fantastic conference in Tennessee every year. I feel very privileged to have won the grant. I look forward to bringing back lots of fantastic ideas to use in my shows as well as meeting like minded people from all over the world who love theatre and children!
